StudyUSA Higher Education Consultants Ltd. (StudyUSA) together with CIEE, a U.S. leader in educational exchange, is offering an Internship and Professional Career Training Program to students interested in working short-term in the U.S.

What is the Internship and Professional Career Training (PCT) Program?

By participating in one of these programs it is an opportunity for students to gain work experience in the United States for up to fourteen months as an Intern and up to 20 months as a Professional Career Trainee. StudyUSA, in corporation with CIEE, is responsible for granting the visa documents to the participant and to making sure all U.S. Government regulations are followed before and during the participants program. StudyUSA and CIEE do not offer internship placements and students must secure their own internships in the U.S. in order to participate.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the CIEE Internship Program you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be registered as a full-time student at a university or other institution of an accredited post-secondary
    institution in Cyprus, or have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to your prospective employment start date.
  • Have at least a 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or 7 out of 10
  • Be able to function in an English-speaking work environment.
  • Complete an English language interview, in person or online, by StudyUSA Higher Education Consultants
  • Must have an internship offer from a valid U.S. employer

 

To be eligible for the CIEE Professional Career Training Program you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Be either a graduate from an accredited post-secondary institution in Cyprus with one year of work experience in
    Cyprus related to your proposed field of your training, or have five years
    of relevant work experience in Cyprus.
  • Have at least a 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or 7 out of 10 on your most recent university transcript
  • Be able to function in an English-speaking work environment.
  • Complete an English language interview, in person or by telephone, by StudyUSA Higher Education Consultants
  • Must have an internship offer from a valid U.S. employer

 

How to apply for the Internship/Professional Career Training Program:

  • The CIEE Internship/PCT application- with supporting documents as listed on the application
  • University/college transcripts for all years attended.

 

What does the Program Fee Cover?

  • Screening for program
  • Pre-departure orientation
  • U.S. Sponsor support throughout the duration of the program
  • Visa and SEVIS application assistance
  • Travel insurance

 

How much does the Internship/PCT Program cost?

  • The initial application to apply is free. Once the applicant has been approved for his/her job, the fee must be paid. The fees to apply depend on the length of the
    Internship or PCT.
  • Please see CIEE Fee Disclosure Form which also includes the cancellation policy.
  • Return flight to and from the U.S. (not included in the Program fee) (The cost of the flight will depend on where the student is offered a job, airports and the time of year but can cost anywhere between $1000- $2000. Please check with a local travel agent)
  • An additional amount of at least $800 available in order to support yourself upon arrival in the U.S.

 

Stipulations of the Internship/PCT Program

  • The Internship and the PCT program is designed to provide qualified students, recent graduates and young professionals with opportunities for work-based learning experiences at U.S. institutions and for a cultural experience in the United States. It is not permanent employment. The program cannot be used for the purpose of ordinary work experience in the U.S. or to displace American workers.
  • These programs are intended to be cultural exchange programs in which you are expected to engage in cultural exchange activities in an effort to gain a better understanding of the U.S. during your duration of your program.
  • All applicants must have secured an internship/training position in the U.S. prior to applying for the program.
  • Applicants cannot be accepted for any internship/training position that consists of more than 20% clerical duties.
  • No applicants can be accepted for placements in the following fields: medicine (or related fields), au pair or child care, camp counselor, aviation, training on a ship navigating in international waters, teaching, construction
    or building trades, unskilled labor or any positions offered by temporary work agencies. Please note that this list of prohibited fields is not exhaustive and from time to time, it may change or be updated.
  • Neither StudyUSA or CIEE can be responsible for obtaining a visa for the student. The issuance of a visa is at the sole discretion of the U.S. Embassy Consular Officer. Students must present themselves for an interview at the U.S. Embassy once the program details have been finalized and visa documents have been obtained.
  • The fees for SEVIS and the VISA are the responsibility of the applicant.
  • You must return to Cyprus upon completion of the program.
  • Medical insurance will be purchased for the student that will cover him/her for the duration of the program. This will be arranged by StudyUSA and CIEE.
  • International flights must be arranged by the student according to the date and place of employment. Students should not arrive more than 5 days before the start date of their employment.
  • Applicants are responsible for finding housing.
  • Students must comply with all CIEE and StudyUSA regulations before and during this program.
