ADMISSION TESTS

You may be required to take some exams, such as the TOEFL, SAT OR ACT, GRE or GMAT  in order to study in the U.S. and this will depend on your background, the area and level of studies and the colleges and universities you plan to apply to.

Students who wish to study in the U.S. may be required to take some standardized tests. Here are the tests you may be asked to take:

TOEFL
The Test of English as a Foreign Language is an English proficiency examination which U.S. universities and colleges require from international students for undergraduate and graduate admissions. The test determines whether the student applying is ready to pursue a degree program in English and measures the four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Rather than testing only one skill at a time, TOEFL questions test a combination of skills together. For example, students may be asked to read a text and then speak about it.

For more information about the content of test and question types, please visit the TOEFL website at www.ets.org/toefl

In Cyprus, the TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) is offered at least once per month at three test centers around the island. Students must register in order to take the exam. For details on registration procedures and costs, please download the following documents:
